2020 Scholarship Applications

The Career and College Launch (CCL) Scholarship Program provides opportunities to fund higher education for local students. During 2020, four $1,000 scholarships were awarded by the BHA, TBK Bank, the Brighton Economic Development Corp., and Hendricks Communities. Many thanks to the CCL committee members for their leadership and participation: Amy Bailon, Valerie Escatel, Courtney Gilan, Cynthia Garcia, Vic Davolt, Mike Burke, Jean Schneider, and Anthony Johnson.

Adam Kingsley 

Jessica Hara Memorial Scholarship

Adam Kingsley received the Jessica Hara Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes students who have a passion for helping animals or providing community service. Mr. Kingsley was a volunteer at Lifeline Puppy Rescue, a local non-profit and no-kill animal shelter in Brighton, and he plans to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. He has started the next chapter in his academic career at Colorado State University.

Cassandra Maldonado-Ontiveros

Maria Alvarado Memorial Scholarship

Cassandra received the Maria Alvarado Memorial Scholarship, which recognizes students who display an upward trend in their academic performance. Ms. Maldonado-Ontiveros is enrolled at the University of Colorado.

Angela Mollel

Terra Management Scholarship

The Terra Management Scholarship was awarded to Angela Mollel. She launched a nonprofit organization called 1 Love, which is dedicated to helping the Maasai people of Tanzania, where she was born and raised. Her efforts have helped send several children to school, build new homes for women, and bring clean water and solar power to her village.

Alfonso Mateo Salais

Dori Benavides Memorial Scholarship 

The Dori Benavides Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Alfonso Mateo Salais, who attends Texas Wesleyan University to major in Political Science. Mateo said he is pursuing political science because of his passion for justice and law.
